Our snow day in OK 1-29-10

The boys played in the snow and had a great time. Here are some pictures. We ended up getting a couple more inches of snow later. The snow looks beautiful on all the trees in our yard.
When they came in they had to have some hot chocolate to warm up!

Titus & Fire Safety

Here was my conversation with T today after school. First of all they have been learning all about fire safety this past week at school.

Me: "Titus, what do you do if our house catches on fire?"
T: "Call 911."
Me: Before that what should you do?
T: Stop, Drop & Roll.
Me: (once again) If our house catches on fire, what should you do?
T: Get a new house!

After that conversation he knows now what he should do if our house catches on fire.... Get out! We went over more detail than that, but I didn't want him to be confused with all the other stuff.

Titus's First Day of Pre School

Titus started pre school today! He was excited. We think he is going to love going to school. He loves to be around people. When we got to school, the teacher's aide asked what his name was. He said Titus, T-i-t-u-s. I can't wait to talk to him and see how his first day went at school!

Interesting

Titus is going to Vacation Bible School this week and their theme is "Joshua." We also read a short Bible story to Titus everynight from his Children's Bible. We go in order in the Bible from front to back, we bookmark where we are. Well he started VBS yesterday, and last night in his Bible his story was about Joshua (when he was a spy). Then tonight his story was about Joshua and the wall of Jericho falling down. Earlier today when I picked T up at VBS, the song they were singing was: "Joshua fought the battle at Jericho, and the walls came tumbling down." I guess God wants Titus to learn about Joshua, He is reiterating it to him multiple times this week.
BTW... Titus likes going to VBS even though he knows NOBODY there (he met someone today, they were flipping through the church's hymnals today when I picked him up!) He adapts easily, always has. He did tell me this afternoon that he was sad when I dropped him off today. He said he wanted me to stay (I didn't know that.) It was sweet when he told me that.

Lightning Bugs

I walked outside tonight at 9:00 to take my trash can & recycle bin out to the curb for trash day tomorrow. It was the perfect time to go outside tonight because the lightning bugs were lighting it up! Those little creatures still amaze me. We didn't have those in Florida, so growing up I only saw them when I visited my cousins in Iowa and Indiana. I no longer smash them on my finger nails and think that is cool that my nails light up for a few seconds. But I did think about doing that. Not really, but I did want to catch some and put them in a jar so Titus could see them in the morning. He would think I was so cool if I did that. But I remember catching them as a kid and even if you poke the holes in the top of the container they are still going to die by the morning.
Long story made even longer, I enjoyed seeing the lightning bugs tonight. They looked so pretty lighting up in the green belt and all around outside. I loved it.

Titus' 4th Birthday Party
"Slay the Dragon"
Titus had his friends over to slay the dragons. The party was set. We had a castle cake (that looked awesome, thanks to Aunt Heather), a castle for the knights to fight in, and two dragon pinatas for the knights to slay. The boys made their armor when they first got to the party.  After putting their armor on, the bird on the video told them what they needed to do in order to get their weapons: a sword & shield. (Later on Titus told me he thought the bird said "Whoopins." He thought they were going to get whoopins!) So the knights found all the gold coins that were scattered around and put them in the treasure chest. They got their swords and went outside and hit the dragons till the candy came out. The party was action packed from 4:00-5:30. The knights also ate pizza, watched Titus open his presents and everyone had cake and icecream. What a great party!

Titus as ......

Pretty  much everyday Titus dresses up as a character. Sometimes they are made up characters, sometimes they are real superheroes. My sister said you should start taking pictures of him each time he dresses up, because one day he won't dress up anymore. So I started taking his picture. I will add more as the days pass and he keeps having a fun imagination. Unfortunately I can't remember what he calls himself with some of these made up characters. Some are self explanatory.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

My dad was here for a couple days. We took the boys to the zoo! We had a good time. I had been looking forward to taking Mac to the zoo because he likes animals. To him every animal makes a "rrrrooaarr" sound!
Titus and my dad had matching Cardinal shirts. T liked that......so did my dad :)
Mac was waving at the gorillas. They were fun to watch. There was one gorilla that was just watching Mac. It was like the gorilla wanted to talk to him.

Birthday Girl

So all day yesterday I got to celebrate my birthday. Jeremy planned some of my day so that it would be extra special. He did a great job. I loved the entire day. He gave me my birthday card in the morning while he made us breakfast. The card informed me that he had a massage scheduled for me that morning. Awesome. I love massages, but have never had a professional one. That was great. The boys painted me a big birthday card, and we went to lunch as a family. The boys went down for a nap and I got to go shop in the afternoon. Jeremy had the evening planned out for the two of us. He knows I like to try out different places to eat, so he made reservations to Iron Star - urban bbq. We had never been there before so that was fun. After walking off dinner, we went to "Cuppies and Joe."  This was another thoughtful act of Jeremy, because he knows I like coffee houses, but there aren't any in Edmond (that we have found.) So he found this place out and it was neat. We shared some cupcakes and hot chocolate. The chocolate peanut butter cupcake was our favorite!!  MMMM... so good!
Thanks to all my friends and family for wishing me a happy birthday too.
Oh and when my dad was here last week he took us out to Charlestons for my birthday too (that is what the picture of the four of us is from.) Thanks Dad. I'm glad you were here to visit us!

Titus and mac got to meet their cousin, Lola for the first time. She's a sweetie and the boys were really good with her.

Enjoying the little things

Mac and Titus found a hiding spot in the linen closet. For some reason this was fun to me. I thought about how one day they will be too big to fit in there, so I better enjoy it now. I grabbed my camera so I could remember these little things in life that are enjoyable. I think they are pretty stinkin cute!
